Cancer Foundation

The Need.

When someone first hears the words “you have cancer” their life changes in an instant.  It is normal for them to feel frightened, sad, and worried. People who have had cancer often talk about experiencing three feelings: loss of control, unwanted loneliness, and loss of hope.

The first few weeks are a busy and overwhelming time, as you face decisions about your treatment and care. Navigating the healthcare system – the tests, doctor’s appointments, figuring out insurance and more – can feel overwhelming. But it is ok to ask for help.

One of the first things to do is think about who in your life is a helping presence.  It might be your spouse or partner, friends, faith community, support group, or co-workers.  Make a list of specific ways they can help and don’t be afraid to ask people who want to help but may not know how to offer their support.

Ask your hospital social worker for resources like the Coach Pops Perry Cancer Foundation.

What is the Coach Pops Perry Cancer Foundation?

The “Coach Pops Perry Cancer Foundation” is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation that was born from Ken’s desire to build awareness around anyone’s cancer diagnosis and to create change within our local community for those battling this disease.

Established in 2022, the first and signature event was the Coach Pops Perry Whacker Classic Golf Tournament, which was held on September 18th, 2022. Our second annual Whacker Classic was held on August 5th, 2023

The Mission.

The mission of the Coach Pops Perry Cancer Foundation is to assist children and families who have been burdened with financial difficulties directly related to a cancer diagnosis.

The Purpose.

The formation of the Coach Pops Perry Cancer Foundation is to be a resource for the local community to help those who have a cancer diagnosis.

Our future hopes for the Foundation are to accomplish the formation of a cancer related support and educational group as well as supporting local residents who have a specific need and experiencing financial difficulty in addition to their cancer diagnosis.
